Hurricane Hermine
Hurricane Hermine made landfall at around 11pm approximately 30mi east of our location, that fortunately put us on the good side of the storm, yes there is a good side to a storm. Had only periods of 50 to 60kt winds with gust to 70's, and a surge of 5 feet.
Hurricane party started on the porch early afternoon and continued until 2am. We checked on boats and adjusted lines in addition to enjoying our favorite libations. Getting on/off the boat was a feat better left to an acrobat, but I managed to perform this several times, with every one watching on the porch waiting for me to fall in... after retrieving a bottle of wine from the boat I managed to make it back to the porch and to my surprise they all gave me 8's and 9's for the performance. Kathy sent her regards to all and said she would see them Friday. No way she was getting off the boat... the water was mid-thigh at the finger pier.
All in all we fared quite well considering Jim Cantore, infamous for showing up at the potential bulls eye of the storm, was stationed in the marina next to us.
Here comes the next one.... the saga continues!!
