June 10, my baby girl Courtney arrives at Cancun airport, what a joy it is to have her with us again. Had a fine day for the ferry crossing from Cancun to Isla Mujeres.
This is a long post, but covers some of the highpoints of our daily activities while Courtney was with us this June and July.
For the obvious and most popular activity, there is the almost daily trip to the powdery white beaches and swaying palm trees. With a hammock and a beach towel we are ready to relax at the beach while staying cool in the calm, crystal clear blue waters. With temperatures up to 39 C and humidity at 86%, this is the place to be, not to mention the need for Courtney to work on her tan, have her hair braided, enjoy a drink and prance on the beach.
For a change of pace, we often visit the eastern side which has fairly steep to rocky shelves. There are few sandy beaches, but with rocky and rough surf at the waters edge that are great for beach combing for shells and sea glass.
After the beach we some times walk the Centro, the tourist section, with the multitude of vendors and shops all wanting to sell you something.
As a contrast, we continue to stroll the quiet back streets of La Colonia, as we experience the rich culture and meet wonderful, friendly, courteous people.
The best homemade ice cream... followed by a taste test at the local brewery
Hmmmm! I hope I don't have to find out what a Mexican jail is like....
