C Quarters Marina is located approximately 2 miles up the Carrabelle River along a well marked channel, don't venture off the markers or you will surely run aground. The old wood docks sit along the river bank with short finger piers. There is a strong current that makes it a challenge for docking, don't let the smooth waters fool you. Despite the heavy boat traffic, most seem to observe the 'no wake zone' signage.
There is an IGA (food store), bank, hardware store, souvenir shop, library, post office and a restaurant, within a two minute walk. The best feature is there is no Burger King, no McDonalds and the nearest Walmart is an hour away, its paradise.
The marina is small, appears a bit rough around the edges, but clean, comfortable and good ambiance. There is a porch with rocking chairs, picnic tables and a ship store, the gentle breeze flows thru keeping it cool and comfortable, the staff and locals all very helpful and friendly.
This is a popular staging area for cruisers to wait out the weather and prepare for the 'jump' across the Gulf to Clearwater. The Big Bend coast is too shallow for boats with any more than a 3 ft draught, that leaves the majority of sail cruisers to make the 36 hr jump to Clearwater.
In the evening the cruisers gather in the porch for the social hour, tell our tales and get up to date information on places to see, places to avoid and non charted obstructions and shoal areas. This is a close knit community where you meet no stranger and all are ready to help without reservation.

Part of the fun was meeting other cruisers, some who had cruised for years and others like us who were at the beginning of the journey. The large porch is a gathering place from early morning to dusk for cruisers and locals alike. Mexican Monday is a weekly potluck that was lots of fun!
In true cruiser style, what happens on the porch, stays on the porch
There is sharks in this river!!
This Bull Shark was caught right next to our boat, needless to say the spectacle fascinated the kids, specially Courtney and her fascination with sharks, having a front seat to the fight landing this shark was "Awesome." These shark frequent the river as they come in to spawn.
