Port St. Joe to Carrabelle

May 23, 2016

My babies finally arrived yesterday, what a joy to have them with us again. We got underway at 6:00am, will have to stay at least 8 to 10mi off Cape Sanblas due to shoaling in the area. Courtney was up early, she has been waiting for this moment for a long time, helped with lines and setting sails as we were treated to a beautiful sunrise, with seas 2ft or less and wind SW at 10kts it is a perfect day.
A pod of dolphins riding our bow wake made for good entertainment for the kids, they stayed with us for a good while. The boys played on the foredeck, Courtney reading and working on her tan.

As we passed Government Cut we called Ken & Marty and we were advised the wind was 15kts and the current running at 3.5kt and we would be better off waiting till morning to make our approach. Entered the East Pass at 8:30pm welcomed by a beautiful sun set, Courtney spotted Coast Guard boat approaching about a mile behind us, shortly after they hailed us on the radio to advise they would be passing us on the port side and would try not to wake us. The 100ft cutter passed us still leaving us to rock and pitch, good thing they tried to minimize their wake.
Since conditions were not favorable to enter marina tonight we would anchor off Dog Island for the night. Courtney again was very helpful dousing sails and setting the anchor. Anchored within 300ft of the beach in 19ft of water, and enjoyed a star filled night and a gorgeous full moon. Had T.V. reception and Wi-Fi, watched a show, the news and relaxed.
